Why Madagascar on an organized circuit?
More than a ten-hour flight from Paris, Madagascar is not a passing destination: it is a commitment. That of encountering a nature that has no equivalent on Earth, where 5% of the world's biodiversity has developed in a vacuum since the island broke away from the African continent 88 million years ago. Lemurs have replaced the great apes. Baobabs have grown upside down. Chameleons have proliferated to represent half of the world's species.
The organized tour is necessary here for practical as well as human reasons. The roads, apart from the RN7, are often impassable. National parks require licensed guides. And a Malagasy guide transforms each step into an immersion in a culture that mixes African, Asian and Oceanian influences in a way that no travel guide can really reproduce.
